An indoor, multi-level city zoo that fits the Australian outback, rainforest and coast into one Darling Harbour building.
Formerly Sydney Wildlife World, WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo packs a cross-section of Australian habitats — from arid outback to wet rainforest — into a compact multi-level building beside SEA LIFE. It's the easiest way to see native wildlife when you don't have a car or a spare day for a drive west.
Inside, walk-through habitats put you among kangaroos and emus, while the headline resident is Rocky, a saltwater crocodile of more than 350 kilograms viewed through pop-up windows. Up on the roof, a koala exhibit sets its residents against the Darling Harbour skyline.

Planning your visit
The zoo is arranged as a route through themed zones on stacked levels, so the natural approach is to follow the signed one-way path from the outback and rainforest habitats down to Rocky's saltwater-crocodile enclosure, then work up to the rooftop koalas at the end. Give it 1.5 to 2 hours; it's compact, and the walk-through Butterfly Tropics and kangaroo walkabout are quick but worth pausing for. Keeper talks and feeds run through the day, so glance at the schedule near the entrance and time the crocodile and koala sections around them. Save the rooftop for last, when the skyline photo is the payoff.
It's in the heart of Darling Harbour, a short walk from Town Hall station and the harbour precinct, so no car is needed. Book online before you arrive, and check current prices and opening hours on the venue's own site; because it shares the precinct with SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium and Madame Tussauds next door, a combo ticket across the attractions is usually the better value. The building is fully air-conditioned and pram-friendly with lift access between levels, and there's food in the surrounding precinct rather than a large café inside. Being entirely indoors, it's the reliable choice on a wet or very hot day when the outdoor parks are less appealing.

Before you go
Yes. The whole zoo is indoors and air-conditioned across its levels, so it works just as well in rain or summer heat as on a clear day. The only outdoor part is the rooftop koala area, which is quick to see between showers.
It's worth considering. SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium is right next door, and combo tickets covering both usually cost less than two separate entries. Together they make a comfortable half-day in Darling Harbour without moving the car.
